At HHBH Playschool, we believe in the transformative power of play-based learning as the cornerstone of our program. As one of the oldest cooperative Playschools in Calgary, operating since 1970, we stand proud as a beacon of collaborative education. Through experienced based programming, children immerse themselves in a world where they not only build emotional and academic intelligence but also develop crucial skills such as problem-solving, self-regulation, and the ability to navigate social relationships. Our cooperative model encourages educators, parents, and children to come together, nurturing a rich learning environment that exceeds Alberta Early Childhood Education standards.
OUR PROGRAM

Our morning classes cater to children ages 3 years to 5 years old, providing a holistic approach that engages the whole child – mentally, socially, physically, and emotionally. Nestled within the vibrant community of Hounsfield and Briar Hill, we extend our warm invitation to families from neighboring areas, including Hillhurst, Sunnyside, Rosedale, Capital Hill and Beyond.
🏫 Exceptional Location: Our inspiring classroom is housed within Briar Hill School, known for its outstanding reputation and convenient accessibility for families working downtown. Additionally, our playschool participants enjoy preferred registration for the licensed full-day daycare and out-of-school care program.
🌈 Community Inclusivity: While rooted in Hounsfield Heights-Briar Hill, our playschool warmly welcomes families from Hillhurst, Sunnyside, Rosedale, Capital Hill, and beyond. Briar Hill School accepts registrations from any area, promoting a diverse and enriching environment for our young learners.
🔗Association Membership: To enroll in our community Playschool, a Hounsfield Heights-Briar Hill Community Association membership is required (Only $20). This membership cultivates a sense of community engagement and connection as you get to benefit from what the community center has to offer as well.

HHBHCA Playschool is participating in the Provincial Affordability Program. Funding of $75 per child is provided directly to operators and is used to reduce family fees. Fee reductions are automatically applied monthly to each child’s account. Additional subsidies are available to eligible families. Please visit Child Care Service (alberta.ca) for more information.
